Dr. Florence Brunel is Senior Principal Scientist at Novo Nordisk Research Center in Indianapolis. Previously, she held positions at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, and Amylin Pharmaceuticals. She earned her Ph.D. in 2003, at the University of Louisville, under Arno F. Spatola.
Her interest in peptides first began in 1997 as a graduate student in the laboratory of Dr. Spatola. Since these early days her passion has only grown through continued work on medicinal peptides and collaboration with amazing peptide scientists worldwide. Her expertise in peptides resides in improving their potency, stability and duration of action, as well as synthesizing and purifying peptide-protein conjugates with the ultimate goal to develop peptide-based molecules to address unmet medical need.
Florence's research experience focuses on the development of peptide-based therapeutics, mainly in the metabolic diseases area.
